Flail Mower VS Rotary Mower: Which is best?
Flail Vs Rotary, the age-old question. Here at PSD one of the most common questions we get is, would I be better with a rotary? or vice versa. So, weve decided to answer it for you all now, in this blog we will outline & discuss the functionality and benefits of using each type.
Let us begin with, the flail mower.
Flail
There are several fantastic flail mowers on the market, walk behind flail mowers & ride on flail mowers. One great addition to the PSD range is the EcoTech HSR 110 Flail mower that sways the argument favourably in the flail direction. The HSR 110 is a part of the hydro series, a professional mower with 16 pneumatic tractor wheels that have quick release support, instant reverse and instantaneous parking brake, rotor of cut 38 blades, two independent hydrostatic motors, five regulation of handlebar height and quick release for total closure during transport and a 7Lt fuel tank.
The ride-on market has some great contenders for the flail mower, like the Stella engineered Racoon 110 4×4 Ride-on flail mower. The 110, one of several ride-on mowers in the Racoon range of ride on flail mowers is powered by a professional 2-cylinder engine and has a premium vanguard V-Twin engine. It delivers 26hp with a displacement of 810cm, a B-V-belt drives the flail shaft via a v-belt, the 5 Donaldson air filter ensures excellent fresh air supply for the engine even under extreme conditions, a great long grass mower.
The 110 Racoon is also powered by a two-cylinder engine and has particularly durable chassis that has a very stable tubular steel frame that ensures the necessary strength even in everyday life. The additional rear axle support that can be lubricated allows a wider lane. This massively increase slope stability, the all-wheel drive 110 ride on flail mower has a very solid drivers protection bar. The handles on both sides are useful for additional operator support on steep slopes.
Now, onto the rotary options.
Rotary
We recently introduced the GRIN pulverising mowers into the PSD range of landscaping machinery & lawn care, one of the machines the SPM53 A KW is a three wheeled mower which has an off-centred engine ideal for maintenance in tall grass and on slopes. The innovative GRIN HD bridge frame which allows to fit professional Kawasaki engine off-centre.
The lockable pivotable front wheel of the machine and the grip grin max rear wheels are the excellent weight balance makes this
machine agile and easy to manoeuvre in tight spaces, on uneven terrain and on slopes. The 3-wheeled structure facilitates mowing near trees and other obstacles.
Also, added to the range is the HM46, one of the most popular machines produced by GRIN into the range. This innovation comes with an internal combustion engine, built on a proven GRIN chassis, equipped with the powerful and reliable Briggs & Stratton 675 series, 163 cc engine with ready start for an easy start up.
The most impressive feature of this machine is its manoeuvrability, standing out in its class of landscaping machinery. Its compact chassis, the wheels with double ball bearings, the low weight of 27kg and the practical frame make it the ideal machine to easily mow in between trees, flowerbeds, lanes and all the other obstacles in the garden.
To conclude, the general rule of thumb that can be used as a general starting point in most decisions when choosing between a rotary or flail mower is this.
If durability is a concern, the flail is for you, if the appearance of the cut is a priority, then choose a rotary.
